Shakespeare in the Park - Thursday, September 9

The National Shakespeare Festival presents Shakespeare in the Park 2010, featuring Love's Labors Lost, a witty romantic comedy about four young men who take an oath to dedicate three years to strict study, renouncing the distractions of love and the company of women. But on that very day, four beautiful women show up, and nature takes her course! Join us in Centennial Park on Thursday, September 9th at 6:30pm for this fun event! Catholic Charities Flood Relief

Although the flood was many months ago, some cleanup and considerable rebuilding remains. We need a small group to help a flood victim who has contact Catholic Charities for assistance. No tools or skills are needed, just some general outdoor cleanup. Work gloves and dumpster provided.
When: Saturday, September 11th, 9:30 a.m .to 11:30 a.m..

Fall Kick-Off Event and New Person Welcome

Join us for an evening of music, games, food and meeting new friends! Activities will include frisbee golf, corn hole, monkey golf, horse shoes, bocce, and more. Please bring a potluck dish or drink to share. Look for tents located towards the front of Centennial Park. This event starts at 4pm. In case of rain, the kick-off event will be moved to the 3rd floor of St. Albert Hall.


Sunday Night Dinners

Join us for dinner after the 6pm Sunday Evening Mass as we wind down the weekend and look forward to the week ahead. We will meet in the narthex (back of the church) and head to the restaurant from there. Or, feel free to meet us to the restaurant around 7:15pm, if you go to a different mass. And follow us on Facebook by joining the Cathedral Young Adults Sunday Night Dinner Group.

On September 12th, we will be going to Corner Pub at the intersection of Broadway and 20th Ave. And on September 19th, we will be heading to McDougal's Chicken Fingers and Wings, located at 2115 Belcourt Ave. We will head to Taco Mamacita on September 26th to round out the month.

Prayer Hour - Monday, September 13

On Monday, September 13th, at 7pm, we will have the opportunity to adore our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament. We will have Adoration, Benediction and will pray the Rosary. Contact Roy with questions. There will also be fellowship, following Prayer Hour, at a restaurant TBD.

Sit n Knit - Wednesday, September 15

Ever wanted to learn how to knit, sew or crochet? Or are you a talented crafter already? Come join our Sit n Knit group! We will be meeting at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, September 15th in St. Albert Hall, Room 304. All skill levels are welcome!

Canoe the mighty Harpeth River!

Savor the last days of summer floating down the Harpeth River...actually more scenic than mighty, but the water level should be up this year. When? Sat., September 18th, 9:30 a.m. to 2-3:00 p.m.-ish

E-mail your interest ASAP & no later than Sep. 11. Where? Kingston Springs, TN (we'll carpool from Cathedral) Cost: $13-$17 depending on attendance + $5-$7 for lunch. Be sure to RSVP!

Chihuly Nights at Cheekwood - Friday, September 17

Chihuly at Cheekwood features stunning, hand-blown
glass sculptures on display throughout the botanical garden at Cheekwood, in various ponds and within the Museum of Art and Frist Learning Center. Some of the highlights of the exhibition include:
* Saffron Tower—a 30-foot tall yellow neon sculpture is installed in the Robertson Ellis Color Garden.
* Sun—a 15-foot tall radiant yellow orb radiates on Museum of Art’s front lawn.
* Mille Fiori – a gigantic garden of glass composed of bold forms in vibrant colors are the highlight of the Reflection Pool.
* Chandeliers – three spectacular chandeliers hang in the Loggia and a stunning two-tired chandelier is installed in the Rotunda of the Museum.

Admission prices for Cheekwood are: $15 for Adults or $12 for students with ID. We will be going there on Friday, September 17th at 7:00 p.m..

Movie Night

Come join your fellow young adults, on Tuesday, September 21st, as we enjoy some snacks and drinks while watching Clint Eastwood's award-winning film Invictus starring Matt Damon and Morgan Freeman. Please bring a snack or drink to share. We will be starting the movie at 7:30 p.m. in St. Albert Hall, Room #304.

Friday Night Social/Happy Hour

40 Days for Life

Young Adults are invited to take part in the National 40 Days for Life effort. We will meet in the Cathedral parking lot on Saturday the 25th of September at 8:30am and then carpool to the local abortion facility at 419 Welshwood Dr, where we will join other Christians in prayer outside the clinic from about 9:00am till around 11:00 am. We will then have lunch at a local restaurant.

Theology of the Body

Beginning in September, we will begin reading and discussing Theology of the Body for Beginners by Christopher West. The book is $8.41 with tax included. If you are interested in purchasing the book, please email Tess by September 17th, so we can have books prior to the September 28th meeting. There will be extras available each evening for newcomers or those who do not wish to purchase the book, but would still like to participate. We will be meeting on September 28th from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in St. Albert Hall, Room #303.
